  • Course Description
  • The CPR+AED Provider Course (Public Access Defibrillator) combines both elements of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) into one complete course.

  • Course Objective
  • At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

    • • Understand cardiac arrest
    • • Understand the causes of cardiac arrest
    • • Identify the risk factors and symptoms of a heart attack
    • • Recognise the importance of a strong link in the “Chain of Survival”
    • • Demonstrate competency in performing effective and quality CPR
    • • Demonstrate competency in the safe use of AED

  • Duration: 0.5 day (4 hours)

    • • Cardiac Arrest
    • • Chain of Survival
    • • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Adult One-rescuer Mouth-To-Mouth (MTM) CPR / Adult One-rescuer Hands Only (HO) CPR
    • • The Importance of Early CPR
    • • The Recovery Position
    • • Automated External Defibrillator (AED): Public Access Defibrillator
    • • The importance of Early Defibrillation
    • • Post-Incident Procedures
    • • Child and Infant Defibrillation

  • Course Assessment
  • • Theory (multiple choice questions)

    • Practical tests (scenario-based)

  • Certificate Awarded
  • A CPR(MTM/HO)+AED Provider Certificate will be awarded by Parkway College (valid for 2 years)
