We have the privilege of having Ms Mona Soh, Director of Nursing at Gleneagles Hospital, to share her career journey – what drives her to excel and inspire her peers to take up the challenge and be part of the caring and rewarding profession.
Ms Mona received the 2018 President’s Award for Nurses, the highest honour in the local nursing profession from President Halimah Yacob at the Istana. She is the first private sector nurse to win this prestigious national award. The award recognises her exceptional patient care, leadership, mentorship, research and administration, and engagement in continual learning to develop the nursing profession and nurture younger nurses.
At just 17 years old, Mona started her nursing journey at the public sector where she stayed for 19 years. In 2012, she joined Parkway Pantai as a Deputy Director of Nursing at Mount Elizabeth Hospital before eventually becoming a Director of Nursing there. Since 1 July 2018, this dynamic leader has taken a new role as the Director of Nursing for Gleneagles Hospital as part of senior leadership rotation to develop staff and build expertise. Throughout her journey, she was filled with the passion to serve patients and develop the nursing profession in Singapore.
According to Mona, each new patient encounter sharpens a nurse’s skill set by refining his or her critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. This provides nurses the opportunity to improve and excel in their careers.
This programme is suitable for individuals who want to pursue or wish to find out more about a career in nursing.
